Activity ratings

Our rating system will help you choose an adventure break to suit you. Do you want to enjoy a relaxing easy walk, or climb to the top of a hill? Do you want to paddle gently around a lake in a canoe or would you prefer the exhilaration of white water rafting on fast moving water.

If you are not sure what level is best for you, give us a call.

Rating  Easy

Relaxing, comfortable pace and speed. This is for women in who would like a leisurely experience. You should be able to walk or cycle between 2-4 miles at a gentle but steady speed, with the odd stop for a breather or to take in the view.

Easy breaks will generally be on flat trails and cycle paths with the occasional incline. Canoeing or kayaking will be on lakes, canals or very slow moving rivers. Abseiling down easy descents with the help of our instructors. Archery, Segway racing and some horse riding breaks are in the easy category.

Many easy breaks may need good balance and mobility but won’t usually need you to be able to hike, scramble or climb. If we know in advance that you may need additional support we can arrange to have help on hand.

RatingRating Moderate

These breaks offer moderate physical challenges. This means you should be in reasonable physical condition.

As a guide, you should be able to walk or cycle at a steady speed between 5-8 miles in the course of a day over occasionally hilly ground.

Activities requiring a moderate level of fitness are likely to be climbing, scrambling, hill walking, buggy racing, whitewater rafting and kayaking on moving water.

RatingRatingRating Challenging

For these breaks you need to be in good physical condition. You should be able to walk or cycle up to 10 miles on steeper ground.

Activities rated as challenging are more likely to be multi-day adventures combining several activities requiring higher energy levels such as hiking, climbing, cycling and canoeing.
